My mom's own version

Due to my high cholesterol level, my mom always cooks healthy food for me now. Last night we had grilled barbecue pork chop with buttered vegetables (corn, carrots, broccoli, sayote). She called her menu last night as Grilled pork chop ala Beth. Lol.

Craving for Buko ni Fruitas

I know it's been raining for the past days but that doesn't stop me from eating my favorite dessert. Buko ni Fruitas! It's like the traditional halo-halo its just that the sahog are fresh fruits.

But before that, I ordered a sizzling pork chop at Sizzlers for my lunch.

Yummy Chocolate Cake

My mom came home last night bringing this yummy, sumptuous chocolate-y cake. Her students gave it to her as a gift in helping them in their thesis.

I like this signature cake of Ala Creme. When it comes to cakes, I tend to be so picky. What I look in a cake is the moisture and smoothness of its bread.

Hay, so sinful naman ng food na ito.

My newest godson Elkie

I arrived at the church around 11:40am, good thing the rites haven't started yet...still waiting for the priest. It was kinda hot and sunny yesterday so todo paypay ako sa church. Thanks to the industrial fans inside, gulo ang hairdo ko. LOL. Anyways, the baby's so cute. Chubby like me. When I carried him, he's kinda heavy for a two month old. Mommy Ethel said he's bigger than their panganay, Basty.

After the baptism, the reception was at "Gubat" restaurant...I haven't been in this place. Actually, I didn't know that this resto exist here in Angeles City. The place is somewhat exotic. Full of exotic animals I tell you. It's like it has a mini zoo inside their premise. There are alot of birds, from small birds to big birds like an ostritch! Oh, they have this Burmese Phyton too. Sooo big that it can swallow a whole chicken! My friend said they are serving exotic foods there too like snakes, bayawak, farm rats, frogs and a lot more. Friends and visitors are fascinated with the place.

I'm craving!

I don't know what's with me today but I'm craving for a lot of food. At first, I wanted a fresh garden salad. My mom made one for me...lettuce, cheese, turnips, cucumber and apple with a thousand island dressing-Yummy! Then, my dad said that he'll be going out of our village to buy something. Hmm, I want some Halo-halo and palabok from Razon's! After 30 minutes or so, my dad's home already and viola! My Halo-halo and palabok is there! Super yummy! Hah! And now I'm sooo full. I can't eat lunch now. I haven't slept yet since I arrived from work this morning. My mother dear doesn't want me to sleep yet 'coz I'm full daw and baka di daw ako matunawan. Anyways, Im just gonna surf the net and blog til I drop later. Heeehee.

Easy Oreo Truffles

I got this recipe to one of the Mommy bloggers (tegdirb92). She has a lot of recipes on her site. Visit her here. The truffles are so mouth watering and I'm planning to make this recipe nextweek. I'm sharing it with you...Grab it!

EASY Oreo Truffles
1 pkg. (1 lb. 2 oz.) OREO Chocolate Sandwich Cookies, finely crushed, divided1 pkg. (8 oz.) Cream Cheese, softened2 pkg. (8 squares each)
Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, melted or you can also use good quality chocolate chips

The ingredients

Mix 3 cups of the cookie crumbs and the cream cheese until well blended.

Shape into 42 (1-inch) balls. Freeze cookie balls for about an hour (the cold helps the chocolate adhere easier).

Melt chocolate over a double boiler or if you don't have one, a metal or glass bowl over a pot of boiling water works just as well. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place on waxed paper-covered baking sheet.

Sprinkle with remaining cookie crumbs. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Store any leftover truffles in tightly covered container in refrigerator.

Last night...

I had a dinner date with my friend JP in one of the restos at SM Clark. Of course I ordered what I was craving for...Crispy pata and sisig! Too bad, they don't serve Banana split ice cream, I like it pa naman as my dessert. Anyways, I just ordered green mango with bagoong na lang to ease some of my cravings.

Crispy pata, Sisig & Green mango

Wow! Delicioso!

After our dinner, we went to Boom na Boom sa Clark, it's like a mini Star City. We tried one ride lang which is the Boomerang- their own version of rollercoaster. We don't want to try all the rides because we just ate and for fear, we might throw up. Hehehe

Day-off...

Yipee, it's my day-off tonight... Yes, you read it right, TONIGHT. I'm working as a Sales Agent Coach in a callcenter and I work from 12 midnight til 10 in the morning. Hah! Beat that! I've been doing this job for almost 7 years already. It's not that I love my job, I just need to love it in order for me to survive in this jungle. Jane's been my officemate before. Hay, it's just like we were playing then but now, it's a different story.

my picture when I was still a CSR

I'm gonna take a shower in a few because I'm meeting my best guy friend in a while at the mall. You know naman, guys hate to wait as if we're taking forever. He's leaving soon for Dubai so we might as well bond while he's still here.

I wonder where we're going... I told him I'm craving for crispy pata and ice cream. What a combination! LOL. Afterwards, we might go somewhere and have some coffee to end the night

Apple a day keeps the calories at bay

I saw this article while browsing the net:

The next diet craze may be the apple diet.

A new study shows an apple a day keeps the calories at bay. People who ate an apple about 15 minutes before lunch consumed almost 190 fewer calories than when they didn't have the apple.
The research was presented Tuesday at a meeting of the Obesity Society, an organization of weight-control scientists and professionals.

Researchers at Pennsylvania State University tested how the consumption of apples in different forms affects calorie intake.

They had 59 normal-weight men and women come to the lab for five weeks to eat breakfast and lunch.

Before lunch, the participants were given either nothing, 1½ medium peeled, cut-up apples (about 125 calories), or a similar caloric amount of applesauce, apple juice with added fiber or apple juice without fiber. About 15 minutes later, participants were served an entree of cheese tortellini and tomato sauce.

Participants who had the raw apple consumed 187 fewer calories than at the meals when they had applesauce, juice or nothing.

"This suggests that eating something like a piece of fruit that's low in calories before your meal might be a great strategy for reducing calorie intake," says Julie Flood, a researcher at Penn State. "It looks like solid fruit is more filling than fruit juice, and people perceive them differently. They look at an apple and think it's going to fill them up."

Barbara Rolls, a professor of nutritional sciences at Penn State, says the findings add to the knowledge that foods low in calories, such as soup, salad or fruit, at the beginning of a meal gives you an extra course, and you end up eating less.

"We expect the effect might have been bigger if we left the peeling on the apples," she says.
Brian Wansink, director of Cornell University's Food and Brand Lab in Ithaca, N.Y., says, "This is great evidence that it's not the calories, but it's the effort of eating that tricks us into thinking we're full."

CHEW ON THIS:
One medium apple has:
• 70 - 80 calories

• 3 grams of fiber
• No fat
• No saturated fat
• No cholesterol
• About 10% of daily vitamin C needs

To all who wants to lose weight just like me specially this coming holiday season, might as well try this one.

125g cheesewhiz

1/8 milk
5 medium size tomatoes
1 big onion
*sugar, salt and pepper to taste

I'm not good in food preparation but it sure tastes delicioso...

Doughnut, anyone?

My mom went to Serendra yeserday and bought me some doughnuts...Krispy Kreme! I like them 'coz they're not that sweet unlike Go Nuts. I went in our kitchen to get some coffee too. Hmmm, feels so good specially it's raining so hard outside due to Storm Hanna. My coffee is just the perfect partner for my doughnut.

I got 6 Krispy Kreme:
1 Caramel Kreme Crunch
2 New York Cheesecake
1 Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled
1 Original Glazed
1 Ateneo Blue Eagle (yes, they have it!)
